7 Things About KikiStar: Stylish Blogger Award

Ohmigosh, I can't believe it! *sniff, sniff. dabs eyes with tissue* First, I'd like to thank The Academy for even nominating me...

Oops...different award speech. Haha! I would like to thank Marie from MerelyMarie for awarding me one of her 15 Most Stylish Bloggers. I just wish that I had read her email when she sent it back in June. (Sorry, girl!) Little things like this excite me because it's hard keeping up with a blog when you work 11 hours a day for 3-5 days. Appreciation and hugs to everyone that visits my blog. ^_^

The rules of the award are to:
  • Thank & link back to the person that awarded you this award
  • Share 7 things about yourself
  • Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers
  • Contact these bloggers & tell them about the award

7 Things About Me:
#7. I have a slight case of OCD
...but only at work. LOL. I cannot under any circumstances have paper all over my desk or leave for the day without clearing it. If I'm away from my desk more than 20 minutes and come back to a mess, talk about anxiety attack!

#6. Caffeine is my drug of choice
It's horrible, I know, but I literally cannot function an entire day if I don't have a can of Coke by 1:30. I managed to go 3 days once without cola and by day 4, I was a mess! Has anyone given up caffeine successfully? Please share how you got through it!

#5. TV takes up a lot of my time
How I manage to get things done is beyond me. Between PIX 11, HBO, VH1, Showtime, Bravo and Lifetime (I'm sure I'm forgetting the other channels I tune into), I could watch TV all day. Granted I wouldn't be able to pay bills, but you get my point. This is where the DVR and HBO Go come in handy. Thanks FIOS!!

#4. I may be on A&E's Hoarders one day
This brings me back to #7. My work space has to be tidy, but my apartment at the moment is clutter-city. Fabric and bags of yarn shoved in the corner. Clothes spilling out of my walk-in closet. A mess!! In my defense, I do live in a studio with only one closet...

#3. Fashion is my destiny
I've been making clothes since I was 3 years old. My mom wasn't too happy at first since I'd make Barbie clothes out of rolls of pastel colored toilet tissue (remember those?). Then I moved onto cutting up my uniform tights. LOL. Now I use yards of fabric (and yarn) like a "normal" person.

#2. Too many ideas and not enough time!
There's so much I want to do and it gets so overwhelming that I end up procrastinating to the point that I run out of time. Does that make sense? For 2012, I think I need to find better ways to complete projects or focus on one at a time. Any ideas on this are greatly appreciated!

#1. My iPhone is my everything
That sounds drastic but it's true. I cannot go anywhere without my iPhone. Mainly because I refuse to walk around NYC without music in my ears. It prevents weirdos from speaking to me....sometimes. LOL.

My 15 Stylish Bloggers (not all recently discovered):

Mens T-Shirt Recon

Last week, I cut up a men's tee to wear to work. We all in the design department wore men's stuff to work that day for a sales meeting. (I actually work at a young men's fashion company now, in case you were wondering.)

I have about 3 yards of gold lame in my stash from like 10 years ago that I've never used (surprise, surprise). Since the graphic on the front is gold foil, it was perfect to braid up with some scraps to keep the shirt from falling off my shoulders. And this is the back detail. Another fabric scrap wrapped and hand sewn in place. It was really quick to do, but has a nice effect to it. Casual in the front, party in the back!

Bag O' Goodies

Can you guess what's in this bag?

A few weeks ago, a friend who shall be known as Blondie (she's a riot so click the link and follow her), gave me this bag filled with:
I really do have great friends. She was cleaning out her office and they didn't need these fabrics so I inherited them. Of course she'll get a free garment out of this. I'm insanely excited about the blue fabric on the left side. It has multiple animal prints in it. I'm already working on a shorts pattern for it, so another post will have a close up.
